OneSails wins the 2022 Aegean 600 race

Gregor Stimpfl’s Hagar V, sporting a OneSails sails 4T Forte full inventory, is the overall corrected time winner both in ORC and IRC of the 2022 Aegean 600 race!

A great result since the weather conditions were quite unstable, with many calm moments and long downwind hours with Meltemi blowing 15 to 25 knots, but also very challenging in an upwind beat with more than 30 knots and formed seas. Indeed, the Scuderia 65, designed by Harry Miesbauer, proved to be highly performing and reliable in tough conditions. A great design with state-of-the-art OneSails sails, which allowed the crew to push hard and express the enormous power of the boat.

Gregor Stimpfl is very satisfied with this important result, in one of the most important offshore regattas of the Mediterranean. Our CEO Dede De Luca, tactician and team manager said it was a fantastic regatta, even though very demanding. He said: « As soon as we thought we could rest, some new surprise came up. I want to thank Gregor for this opportunity and the crew for pushing this so hard non-stop, especially in the last 8 hours when we realized we could make it ».

The crew counted: Giacomo Conti bowman, Peter Stimpfl bowman, Giulio Maccarrone bowman/trimmer, Ivo Laimer pitman, Aldo Scuderi skipper/pitman, Enrico Turrini trimmer/watch captain, Michele Franceschini main trimmer, Gregor Stimpfl helmsman/owner, Harry Miesbauer runners and boat designer, Hans Hell runners, Alessandro Alberti navigator (winner of both editions of the Aegean 600) Dede De luca tactician/team manager. Congratulations to the whole crew! Good job guys!

The CODE-X CROZ team has just finished the Loro Piana Giraglia 2024 regatta, covering the 241-mile course from Saint-Tropez, through the Giraglia rock/Northern Corsica, to Genoa in 26h 32min. They placed 29th in Line Honours, 1st in ORC2, and 9th overall in ORC on corrected time.
After a solid performance in the inshore races, which provisionally placed it first both overall and in its race B division, and with an excellent result in the long distance race on the same course of the 69th Regata dei Tre Golfi, Sugar 3 consolidates and confirms the result, taking home the title.
With a total of 179 days, 18 hours and 32 minutes of sailing have passed, covering 28625 nautical miles Spirit of Helsinki came very close to overall victory, touching it by only 17 hours in the handicap time and thus placing second on the podium. However, it took the victory in the Sayula class. It was a gripping battle, won in the end by Maiden, who is still to be congratulated!
We were invited by Holly, founder of Clean Sailors and host of the podcast. During our conversation with Dede De Luca, co-founder and CEO of OneSails, we explored the world of sailmaking, the evolution of sail technology, and how this industry strives to become greener. The topic of the life cycle of sails and the materials from which they are made is often a source of great confusion. We have tried to bring more clarity to the topic, including providing tips on how to care for sails to extend their lifespan with the right care.
OneSails is happy to announce its partnership with the Gentoo Sailing Team, captained by James Harayda. As a technical sponsor, we will support his participation in the upcoming 2024 Vendée Globe by providing him with a full set of state-of-the-art 4T FORTE™ sails, renowned for their durability, design, and recyclability. As the youngest international skipper in the class, James will be supported by sails designed to excel in challenging conditions while minimizing environmental impact, a topic increasingly at the center of attention in the IMOCA class.
