Sailmaker & Product Specialist Daryl Morgan began his sailmaking journey in 1980, apprenticing with Portsmouth-based WG Lucas and Son. He went on to work with North Sails in their One Design and Service departments, followed by a stint at Banks Sails UK, cutting Checkmate radial sails designed by Ken Rose. His career then took him to the Caribbean, where he spent seven years managing lofts in St Maarten and Barbados. There, he oversaw OEM and charter specification sails for the region’s booming charter fleets. Upon returning to the UK, Daryl became Loft Manager for Doyle Sails, contributing to a wide range of projects including multihulls, J Class yachts, Etchells, and 6 Metres. He later joined UK Halsey Swanwick as Loft Manager and Sail Designer, before returning to Banks Sails to focus on design and sales across the UK and international markets. In 2015, Daryl transitioned to Bainbridge International as Product Manager for Sail and Cover, where he played a key role in developing hybrid woven sailcloth and sailmaking hardware. Today, Daryl is proud to return to his roots as a hands-on sailmaker, fully aligned with One Sails’ ethos and commitment to sustainable sailmaking.
