New Spirit 30 chooses OneSails

Designed for coastal cruising and regatta racing, the new Spirit 30 day sailor from Spirit Yachts has now been revealed. The yacht has an electric drive system, which burns no fossil fuels, and was commissioned for an environmentally minded owner in the UK. The 9.15m wooden, modern classic yacht has a light displacement of 1.7 tonnes and is set up for single or short-handed sailing. OneSails GBR (East) designed, made and fitted the full sail wardrobe for the yacht, and provided test sail support. The yacht has a VantageOne mainsail and jib, as well as an asymmetric spinnaker. John Parker from the OneSails GBR (East) loft commented, "The VantageOne sail fabric is a cost-effective solution for an owner looking for quality cruising and occasional racing sails. As part of OneSails' drive to improve the sustainability of its sails, VantageOne also has outer shield layers made from recycled polyester and the internal load bearing fibres are made from a bio-based Dyneema." In addition to the sails, OneSails GBR (East) also patterned, hand-made and fitted custom covers, including a boom cover with solar panels attached to boost battery regeneration.
