Onesails powers Indian to a race record!

Craig Carters Carkeek 47 Indian breaks the 20 year old record in the 220nm Fremantle to Geraldton Yacht Race 2015 using a full inventory of OneSails.

The race which was mostly downwind in 15 – 20 knots gave the Indian team the opportunity to test their new Third Generation A2 with their existing inventory further expanding the performance envelope in preparation for the Sydney to Hobart Race 2015.

Their performance exceeded expectations with a new record of 17hours 11 minutes 22 seconds! Indian leads the fleet at the start of the 220nm Race Indian’s owner Craig Carter added “As the Owner of Indian it was nice to see the sails look as good as new in the photos of us crossing the Geraldton finishing line. I am always very cautious about new technologies especially in sailing but my 4T Forte™ mainsail has delivered more than 6.000nm including a Sydney to Hobart, several short haul regattas, Fremantle to Bali and now the Geraldton and it is great to see us still sail to our rating even in light air.  It is very important for the kind of yachting program I run to get performance and durability”.

Indian will shortly receive her Next Generation 4T upwind sails after extensive study and refinements where the FSI study showed areas for further improvement in the structural engineering. Indian will shortly add new 4T Forte sails after extensive CFD & FSI Studies over the past months Paul Eldrid from OneSails Australasia explained “We have been working hard to improve our all-round performance in terms of sail design, construction, crossovers and also how we sail the boat. Working with Flavo Formosa from our technical department we have undertaken a number of CFD & FSI studies for Indian.

Our first generation of offshore sails have done a remarkable job given the miles they have raced in extreme conditions. It is a credit to the 4T Technology and the process used to produce such light, rugged sails that stay fast. We employ very strict finishing standards for all our products ensuring all OneSails customers can be confident the quality of their products is second to none. We are very proud of this.”
