VERONA LOFT
The loft has been given a new boost by the 2004 entry of Paola Bacchiega (sailing coach and former champion), Dede De Luca (an Olympic Games and America’s Cup campaigner who has been competing at the top level for 30 years) and Mafio De Luca (skipper with a wide sailing experience, from OlYmpic dinghies to maxi yachts). A gold medal with Torben Grael at the Olympic Games and an entry into the America’s cup with +39 count among the many successes of the loft over the years.
1998 - Halsey sailmakers become the official supplier of “Cantiere Del Pardo”, Responsable for all the series and custom sails produced for the yard. Halsey also becomes a leader with classic yachts. Complete sets of sails are produced for legendary yachts such as Croce del Sud, Skagerrak, Astra, TeVega, Latifa, Cariba, Candida, Invader and many others, without forgetting projects for historical sail ships such as A. Vespucci and Palinuro.
1995 - Halsey Italy expands its family by including the La Spezia loft, directed by Andrea Giresini (former Production Director at Murphy&Nye), which is initially charged with coordinating the production and marketing for the Tirreno zone of the Mediterranean. Between the two lofts more than 25 persons are employed. Collaboration with the Vorona loft was able to make a quantum contribution to the technical competency of both lofts. The sharing of software materials and construction techniques made it possible to build sails with the same quality in both lofts.
1994 - Umberto Righi (former owner of the Eiffel Sail loft) and Claudio “Aua” De Luca (project manager at Murphy and Nye, 1986-93) bring the famous American brand “Halsey” to Italy. As a consequence, the technical and commercial experiences of the two are melded together. With these two key figures Halsey Italy was born, and the loft was placed in the central location of Bussolengo (Verona), 20 km from Lake Garda one hour's drive from the Venice gulf and less than three hours from the Genoa gulf.
